Day 64

I was very, very pleased to have yummy pancakes for breakfast again. It definitely tops the cereal I have every morning in Seville! (This time I took some pictures of the little garden on the terrace, mostly for Mom. We were allowed to use/eat the "crops" if we wanted!)

We actually got to go on a free walking tour!! Yay!!!!! It was really fun and informative. I didn't know much of anything about Portuguese history before, so it was great! Our tour guide, Rui, did a great job. Here are some of the things we saw...

A church that burned down but was rebuilt with the burnt walls intact

The tour ended right at this huge, famous flea market. It was fun walking around and looking at all the junk. There were lots of old records and CDs that were especially fun to look through.

We attempted to have lunch at some of the other hostel-recommended restaurants, but lunch actually ends at 2:30 in Portugal (but basically starts then in Spain). We managed to find a restaurant that was still open and rushed through our lunch to get back to the hostel to head out to meet our BlaBla Car driver, Mario. We took the metro, which got delayed (so annoying), but Mario was cool about it. He was 25 and fluent in English, so that was helpful. He had actually done the Disney College Program, so not only was he fluent in English, but fluent in American English. You don't find that every day here!

His mom actually ended up driving the entire 6 hours to Madrid. They were both really cool, but the mom didn't speak English. It was a really chill, nice trip. We even got to cross the longest bridge in Europe! They dropped us off not too far from our hostel in Madrid, so we just walked there. It was really cold! And pretty late, past 11. Once again, though, we managed to pick a very nice hostel, and had very chill roommates, so it was no big deal. We took our showers and then went to bed without anything planned for the morning.
